UIX Icons for AI agents

Real icons by exact name, inside your assistant.

Set up

Add the server to your assistant

The server runs on your computer with npx, so there is nothing to install first.

Claude Code
claude mcp add uix-icons -- npx -y @uixicons/mcp
Claude Desktop, Cursor and others
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "uix-icons": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["-y", "@uixicons/mcp"],
      "env": { "UIX_LICENSE_KEY": "UIX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX" }
    }
  }
}
Leave the env line out to use only the free styles.

Tools

Three tools, one rule

The assistant searches first and only uses names the search returned.

ToolWhat it does
search_iconsFinds icons by meaning, using names, synonyms and tags. Returns real names, best match first.
get_iconReturns one icon as SVG, a JSX component or a URL. Size and colour are options.
list_icon_stylesLists every style and whether it is free or Pro.

No invented icons

A name that is not in the library is refused, and the server suggests the closest real names.

Free and Pro

Pro styles with your key

Add your key for Pro

The free styles work with no key. For Pro styles, set UIX_LICENSE_KEY. You can copy the full setup, with your key filled in, from your account page.

FAQ

Questions

Does it send my code anywhere?

No. The server only looks up icons and reads none of your project files. Search runs on a file inside the package, and the icon files are fetched from uixicons.com, with your licence key for Pro styles. Nothing is stored on our side beyond the normal request log.

Which assistants work?

Any client that supports the Model Context Protocol works, including Claude Code, Claude Desktop and Cursor. Add the server to the client settings with the command shown above, and restart the client so it loads the three tools. Any other client that speaks the protocol can use the same command.

Can it work offline?

Yes for the free styles. Point UIX_ICONS_DIR at a local copy of the icon files and they load from disk with no network request. The package readme lists the folder layout the server expects. Pro styles always need a network connection and your key.

Is there a hosted endpoint?

Not yet. For now you run the open package on your own machine with npx, which takes one command. A hosted endpoint is planned, and this page will say when it is ready. The setup is the same in every client, so moving to a hosted endpoint later will be a one-line change.
